About April's Photography

Artist Statement:

 

I work primarily in digital photography, and focus on portrait as well as creative photography. I use photography to capture the essence of each individual I photograph. Before each photo session, I talk with my subject, and I find their personal style and aesthetic. I then work with them to create mood boards for the photoshoot, ensuring I really capture their individuality and vision.

 

My work explores the relation between visual representation and essence. I am influenced by traditional modeling, fashion photography, and Irving Penn. However I add a unique and often colorful twist to each piece I produce.

Artist Bio:

 

I started April's Photography the year that I graduated high school, and I fell in love with photography and how I could interact with my clients in unique ways. I have been doing professional photography since 2020, and have improved and grown with each photoshoot I have done.I am currently a Studio Art major at Northern State University with an expected graduation date of May 2026. I especially love creative and editorial style photography. I received the NSU Foundation award for my artwork in spring of 2025. I never stop learning new techniques and expanding my style and knowledge of photography.
